Aquaplaning

Aquaplaning is a very dangerous phenomenon that occurs when a high speed movement of vehicles between the tire and the road a thin layer of water that can not be squeezed out – then the driver lost control, because the vehicle acts like it’s on the ice.

Speed at which hydroplaning will occur depends on many factors, including the purpose of tyres (summer, winter, all-weather), its quality, wear and dimensions, and weight of the vehicle. It is therefore no need to save the tires – they are still the only car and the ground connection and the connection is realized only through the equivalent of four areas of human hands.

Channels which intersected tires have the task of “pumping” water, just to avoid aquaplaning. As the tread depth decreases during the normal life of the tire, automatically increasing the risk in the wet. Doing so should not forget the proper air pressure, which should be checked at least once a month (ideally once every two weeks).

Of course, even the highest quality tires, like Falken tyres, will not help if the rain falling heavily and the driver does not speed to road conditions. If you can find on the road salt, dirt or oil, water features are very much affected, and even easier to come to the slip.

When the worst has come, try not to panic and Curb reflex need to use the brake or change direction, it will be so only worsen the situation.

However, if you have ABS brake normally. Firmly hold the steering wheel and try to slow down slightly by subtracting the gas until you regain control.

Special warning applies to the first minute after the rain – then the water is mixed with dust, oil and other impurities, so there is an extremely slippery layer. So be very careful in the first half hour after the first drops fell. Read more
